Shut it down- move out now! No one should rent out rooms on property that was stolen and in constant danger of violence.
I am a staunch air b & b user. However, my husband and I will have to move to another site if you do not stop listing houses built on the backs of Palestinians and their families. This is apartheid, and it is wrong. Laurel Kempe RN wife mother grandmother.
Vacation settlements should NOT be built on the rubble of stolen homes, orchards and fields, and displaced communities and families.
I liked the layout of the airbnb accommodation, but the blood of the rightful owners persecuted by those who ejected them illegally from their family home really messed up the carpets.
This goes against all ethics and should be shut down immediately, it is theft. It violates international law and basic human rights! Why would anyone support this when it is land that was illegally stolen from Palestinians.”
Airbnb was my go to for lodging when travelling. No more! Now it’s my “avoid at all cost.” I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you did not knowing list stolen homes built on the land of exterminated people. However, until you divest of all properties built on the displaced culture and crushed dreams of Palestinians in the Occupied West Bank, I will consider you an accomplice and find lodging via other means.
Worst AirBnb ever, I slept on the streets with the Palestinians, at least there was some comfort of mind..!
I enjoyed the Airbnb places I stayed in Croatia 2 summers ago, but this really gives me pause. I could never in good conscience stay in another Airbnb place knowing that you’re complicit in violating human rights and international law. Ethics should always take priority over profit!
“…properties in settlements such as Efrat, Ma’ale Rehavam and Tekoa are listed as being in Israel.”
“The Jewish settler population grew by 23% between 2009 and 2015, to over 400,000 people, in comparison to an overall population growth rate of 9.6% inside Israel.”
“Israel has never agreed that the Geneva Convention resolutions applied to the territories occupied in 1967,” he said. “According to Israeli law, Tekoa, and the vast majority of settlements in the West Bank, are authorized settlements, therefore entirely legal and consistent with national law.”
“Staying in an Airbnb rental in a settlement “facilitates the commission of the crime of establishing settlements” and “therefore aids and abets the crime”, said John Dugard, professor of international law and former UN special rapporteur on Palestinian human rights. Similarly, Airbnb “could in theory be prosecuted in [a European Union] country with aiding and abetting the commission of a crime” due to “making money from property built on [an] illegal settlement”, Dugard says.”
